Ironshore is Ironclad. Our Team. Ironshore brings together the deep experience of some of the leading names in the insurance business. Our senior management and underwriting teams have proven expertise in our focused lines of business, with a clear track record of success in developing and operating profitable insurance companies. Ironshore was founded by Robert Clements, John Clements and members of our experienced management team.
Senior Management Biographies. Mitchell E. Blaser. Mitch is Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Ironshore. He was Chief Financial Officer for Swiss Re’s Americas Division from 2001 through 2005 and served as a director of Swiss Re America. Prior to Swiss Re, he was part of the leadership team at Marsh, the insurance services subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, and served in a variety of roles from 1973 until 2001 including Global Chief Financial Officer and Head of Technology and Corporate Services, as well as a member of the Marsh Board of Directors. Mitch chairs the Advisory Board at The George Washington University School of Business. He holds a B.B.A. from The George Washington University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Pace University. Peter J. Coleman. Peter is a Senior Vice President and Property Underwriter of Ironshore Insurance Ltd. Prior to joining Ironshore, he was a Principal of Integro London, where he was responsible for marketing, design and structure of complex Property Programs in the London and European Markets. Prior to Integro, Peter was an Executive Director for Aon Global Markets. Between 1995 – 2002, Peter was an Executive Director at Willis where he headed the Global Markets International Broking team. Peter began his underwriting career at R.J. Keeling (now part of Amlin) in 1991 as an Assistant Property Underwriter. Robert V. Deutsch. Bob is Chief Executive Officer of Ironshore. Prior to the formation of Ironshore, he was an advisor to various companies and private investors in the insurance industry. From 1999 to 2004, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for CNA Financial Corp. (CNA – NYSE). Prior to CNA, Bob was one of the founders of Executive Risk (now part of Chubb), where he held a number of leadership positions from 1987 to 1999, including President of its insurance operating companies, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Actuary. Prior to Executive Risk, Bob was with Swiss Re, and before that was an actuarial consultant with Ernst & Young beginning in 1981. Bob is currently a director of two public insurance companies, Platinum Underwriters Holdings, Ltd. (PTP – NYSE) and Chaucer Holdings PLC (Lloyd's; CHU – LSE), as well as of Wilton Re Holdings Limited. He is also a Fellow and former director of the Casualty Actuarial Society. He holds a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Matthew Dolan. Matt is President of IronHealth, Ironshore’s healthcare liability division. Prior to joining Ironshore, he was a founder and President of OneBeacon Professional Partners, and organization focused on providing specialty insurance including Directors and Officers, Managed Care Error and Omissions Liability, Medical Malpractice and Provider Excess / HMO Reinsurance. OBPP is also a provider of Lawyers’ Professional Liability, Media Liability and Miscellaneous Errors & Omissions. Prior to joining OBPP, Matt was Vice President of Chubb Specialty’s Healthcare division. He helped oversee the production and profitability of the Management Liability Products, including D&O, Managed Care E&O and Medical Professional Liability. Previously, Matt worked at Executive Risk, initially managing the research and due diligence activities that supported the company’s entry into medical professional liability. Prior to joining Executive Risk, he was Assistant Vice President at CNA HealthPro, where he was responsible for the production and profitability of medical malpractice and managed care business. Matt holds a BA from Catholic University in Washington, DC. Tammi Dulberger, FCAS, MAAA. Tammi is the Chief Actuary and a founding member of IronHealth with responsibility for Actuarial, Finance & Accounting and Business Intelligence. For six years prior to joining Ironshore, she was the Chief Actuary of OneBeacon Professional Partners with oversight of Actuarial and Finance & Accounting. Prior to joining OBPP, Tammi was Assistant Vice President and Actuary for Chubb Specialty Insurance with responsibility for Chubb’s D&O, Employment Practices and Fiduciary Liability books of business. She joined Chubb through Chubb’s acquisition of Executive Risk in 1999. Prior to joining Executive Risk in 1998, she was a Personal Lines pricing actuary at Travelers Property and Casualty, and she held positions in Workers Compensation Pricing and Personal Lines Reserving while at Aetna Life and Casualty. Tammi became a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society in 2000. She received a B.S. in Mathematics, magna cum laude, from Tufts University. Scott Fitzmaurice. Scott is Assistant Vice President, Southeast Regional Manager, responsible for overseeing all IronPro operations in the Southeastern states, as well as a contact point for all US-based operations in the Southeast. Prior to joining Ironshore, he was Regional Manager for the Southeast in the National Accounts Division of AIG Executive Liability, a subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. Prior to his time in the Southeast, Scott worked as a Senior Underwriter in the New York office of AIG Executive Liability, working on New York Region business. Greg Flood. Greg is President of IronPro, Ironshore’s professional liability arm. Prior to joining Ironshore, Greg was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of National Union Fire Insurance Company, a subsidiary of American International Group. Prior to this position, Greg co-founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Global Specialty Risk (GSR), a D&O specialty insurer launched in 2000 and subsequently acquired by AIG. Prior to GSR, Greg was President of AIG’s Mergers and Acquisitions Insurance Services Division. From 1988 to 1998 Greg served in a variety of positions with National Union. Prior to that Greg was a broker and Vice President with Marsh & McLennan. Greg holds a B.A. in Economics from Pace University and an M.B.A. from Long Island University. Jeremy Frumkin. Jeremy is Assistant Vice President, Western Regional Manager, responsible for overseeing all IronPro operations in the 11 Western states, Alaska, Hawaii, and western Canada, as well as a contact point for all US-based operations in the West. Prior to joining Ironshore, he was Branch Manager for the San Francisco Region in the National Accounts Division of AIG Executive Liability, a subsidiary of American International Group, Inc, covering the Northwestern United States. Prior to joining AIG, Jeremy was AVP for Pinnacle Investments, a boutique investment advisory firm specializing in Pension and Insurance Benefits management for union and government organizations. Jeremy has a BA Degree in Environmental Economics from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. Allison Funicelli, MPA, CCLA, ARM, ACHE. Allison has joined IronHealth as Vice President with responsibility for claims handling for all medical lines of business. Previously Allison was at OneBeacon Professional Partners where she managed the medical malpractice claims department. Prior to that, Allison was at St. Paul Insurance, handling medical malpractice claims. Meg Gaffney. Meg has joined IronHealth as Senior Vice President with responsibility for the production and profitability of the company’s Hospital Medical Malpractice line of coverage. Previously Meg was at OneBeacon Professional Partners where she oversaw the company’s Hospital Medical Malpractice line of business. Prior to that, Meg was at Chubb Specialty Insurance as Product Manager for the Healthcare Liability book. Meg is a member of the American Society for Healthcare & Risk Management and a member of the CT Society for Healthcare and Risk Management. Joseph J. George. Joe is the head of the IronBuilt specialty construction unit. He has been a recognized expert in the specialty insurance sector for more than 30 years, with over 20 years as an underwriting executive specializing in underwriting large, unique excess and primary accounts. Most recently, Joe operated as a Construction program administrator for Glencoe/Lantana Insurance Companies, subsidiaries of Renaissance Re. Prior to Glencoe/Lantana, Joe was a Senior Vice President at Lexington Insurance Company where he managed several lines of business including General Casualty, Products, Energy, Transportation, EPL, Miscellaneous E&O, Construction, and A&E. Before joining Lexington, he was President of USF&G Specialty Insurance Company where he was responsible for managing Property, Lawyers Prof, Insurance Agents, E&O, Umbrella, and primary General Liability lines of business. Joe also worked at the London Agency of Crum & Forster as a Senior Vice President managing the Umbrella book of business, including lead and excess. Joe has a BA in Finance from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. He also graduated from the Kellogg Advanced Executive Program at Northwestern University and holds CPCU and AIAF designations. Alice Johansson. Alice has joined IronHealth as Senior Vice President with responsibility for the production and profitability of the company’s Managed Care E&O line of coverage. Previously Alice was at OneBeacon Professional Partners where she oversaw the company’s heathcare liability lines. Prior to that, Alice was at Chubb Specialty Insurance for 5 years as Vice President and Product Manager, Managed Care Errors and Omissions Insurance. Preceding her foray into the underwriting side of the business, Alice worked in the insurance brokerage industry for ten years specializing in health care organizations. Tom Leahy. Tom is Senior Vice President of IronPro, responsible for the development and management of IronPro’s management liability underwriting unit. Prior to joining IronPro, he was Executive Vice President, National Accounts Division of AIG Executive Liability, a subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. Prior to AIG, Tom was Vice President of Global Specialty Risk and an Underwriting Manager for Reliance National Insurance. Tom started his insurance career at AIG in 1994. Tom has a BS Degree in Finance from the University of Scranton and an MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Fred Marra. Fred is a Vice President and US Operations Manager for IronPro. Prior to joining Ironshore, Fred was VP of Underwriting Services at Arch Insurance Group in their New York offices. In this role, he had responsibilities for coordinating support services to the field for Compliance, IT, Reinsurance and Finance functions along with managing substantial portions of the SOX compliance effort. Prior to joining Arch, Fred was SVP Finance and Administration at Frenkel & Co., Inc., where he had responsibilities for Finance, IT, Operations, human resources and acquisition identification and integration. Before Frenkel, he was SVP and CFO for the Eastern region of Aon. Prior to that, he was a Senior Manager in the audit practice of KPMG Peat Marwick. Fred has BA in Political Science from Columbia University and an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the Stern School of NYU. He attained the CPA designation in New York. Peter McKeegan. Peter is Senior Vice President of IronPro and is responsible for wholesale producer production and divisional underwriting. Prior to joining IronPro, Pete was an Executive Vice President of Mercator Risk Services, a wholesale insurance broker based out of New York responsible for their Management and Professional Liability Group. Prior to Mercator, Peter was Senior Vice President of Arch Insurance Group’s Executive Assurance Department. Prior to Arch, Peter was an original founder of Global Specialty Risk (GSR). Prior to GSR, he spent 15 years at AIG in National Union from 1985 to 2000 in various management roles in their Management and Professional Liability groups. Peter has a BA Degree in Business Economics from the State University of New York and is a frequent speaker on industry panels. Mike Mitrovic. Mike is President IronPro Claims, Ironshore’s professional liability arm. Prior to joining to Ironshore, Mike was Vice President of Claims for AIG and President of AIG Worldwide Financial Lines Claims. Prior to this position, Mike co-founded and served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Global Specialty Risk. From 1996 to January 2000, he served as Vice President of AIG Worldwide Financial Lines Claims and Executive Vice President of National Union. His 22 years of experience with AIG also included serving as President of AIG Technical Services, Inc. Mike holds a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University, a M.A. from New York University, a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University and J.D. from the University of Richmond.Tom Monaghan. Tom is Vice President of IronPro, responsible developing and managing IronPro’s Errors and Omissions Insurance capabilities. He most recently served as Managing Director of Specialty Global Insurance Services, a leading underwriting and claims manager for Professional Liability products. Prior to joining Specialty Global, he spent 17 years as Senior Vice President at Gulf Insurance Group, in charge of all Professional Liability lines. As an original member of the team that transformed Gulf into a major specialty insurer, he was one of the primary architects that built their Professional Liability underwriting platform. Prior to Gulf, Tom was an Assistant Vice President with Aon Corporation where he managed the AICPA sponsored Accountants Professional Liability program. He began his career as a Professional Liability underwriter in 1982 at Crum & Forster, leaving in 1985 to join National Union, part of American International Group (AIG), as a Professional Liability Senior Underwriter. Tom holds a BS from West Virginia University.Fielding L. Norton III. Fid is Chief Risk Officer of Ironshore. Prior to joining Ironshore, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for Swiss Re Corp's Commercial Insurance operations. From 1996-2006 he held a variety of senior risk management, pricing, and portfolio management positions for Employers Reinsurance Corp and GE Insurance Solutions. He has also served as Science Program Manager for the Risk Prediction Initiative in Bermuda, as a Teaching and Research Fellow in climate science at Harvard University, and in a range of other teaching and management roles. Randall G. Oates. As Chief Operating Officer of IronHealth, Randy is responsible for operations, marketing, distribution, communications and human resources at IronHealth. Prior to joining Ironshore, he was a founding partner and COO for OneBeacon Professional Partners. Prior to joining OBPP, he was Senior Vice President of Chubb Specialty Insurance with responsibility for the Communications Department. Randy had previously served as the head of the Financial Services Division at Executive Risk Insurance, and was responsible for professional liability products marketed to commercial and financial institutions. He also served as the head of Aetna Health Plans’ field operations with responsibility for all field sales and service personnel, including incentive compensation, staffing and training. Randy graduated from Grove City College with a BA degree. Robert E. Piller. Bob is President of IronSelect, Ironshore's Excess Casualty's Liability Division. For the past ten years, Bob was Senior Vice President & Territorial Executive with Zurich North America Insurance Company in their Excess Casualty operation. Prior to this role, Bob was at Odyssey Reinsurance Corporation as Vice President where he was responsible for the Facultative Casualty Group's Branch operations. Prior to that role, Bob was Senior Vice President at Continental Reinsurance Corporation where he established and directed their Casualty Facultative Division. With more than 30 years of experience in the underwriting and management of Casualty Excess of Loss portfolios, Bob brings extensive experience to Ironshore as they establish this important capability in North America. Leslie J. Rock. Les is President and Chief Underwriting Officer of Ironshore. From 2002 until July 2006, he served as Active Underwriter for Syndicate 1200, a Lloyd's underwriting syndicate he founded for Heritage Underwriting Agency (HUA – LSE). During this period, Les also served on the Board of Directors of Heritage. Prior to Heritage he established and headed up the global short-tail property business at D.P. Mann (now part of Faraday/Berkshire Hathaway) from 1992 to 2001. Les began his underwriting career at R.J. Keeling (now part of Amlin) in 1983 and rose to become its worldwide head of property before leaving the firm in 1992. David Rogers. David is an Assistant Vice President and the Central Regional Manager for IronPro. Based in Chicago, he is responsible for managing regional distribution and business development within the Central Region. Prior to joining IronPro, David was an Assistant Vice President at Endurance Specialty in Bermuda where he was an underwriter for Fortune 500 Professional Liability Programs with an emphasis on the Central Region. Prior to Endurance, he worked in Chicago for both Chubb and Marsh in their Professional Liability departments. David has a BA Degree in Finance from Michigan State University's Eli Broad College of Business. Joshua Stein. Josh is the Chief Underwriting Officer of IronHealth. Prior to joining Ironshore, he was a founder and Chief Underwriting Officer of OneBeacon Professional Partners. Prior to joining OBPP, Josh was Vice President, Reinsurance, for Chubb Specialty Insurance, and prior to that he had been lead underwriters’ counsel and Director of Reinsurance for Executive Risk Management Associates, which was acquired by Chubb in the summer of 1999. Prior to joining Executive Risk, he was a senior corporate associate at the law firm of Brenner, Saltzman, Wallman & Goldman, in New Haven, Connecticut. Josh received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and also holds a BA in History from Yale University. G. Rod Todd. Rod is a Senior Vice President and Property Underwriter of Ironshore Insurance Ltd. Prior to joining Ironshore, he worked at Talbot Underwriting Syndicate as a Joint Team Manager for Property Direct and Facultative with a specific focus on North America. From 1993 to 2003, Rod was a Managing Director and Underwriter at Faraday Syndicate, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gen Re (formerly DP Mann). He started as a Deputy Underwriter for Commercial Lines business and in 2000 was named Managing Director of the Commercial Lines Team. Prior to Faraday, he spent 11 years with Thompson Heath and Bond Ltd, a Lloyd’s Broker. From 1982 until 1988, he was the Associate Director, than he became the Main Board Director in 1988. Before Rod’s career at THB Ltd he was a Senior Broker at Richard Longstaff, another Lloyd’s Broker. While at Richard Longstaff he produced and placed North American property business. His first position from school was a Junior Broker at Bradford Hobbs Savill, a Lloyd’s Broker. Matthew Wasta. Matthew has joined IronHealth as Senior Vice President with responsibility for the production and profitability of the company’s Long Term Care Professional Liability line of business. Previously Matthew was at OneBeacon Professional Partners where he oversaw the company’s long term care professional liability line. Matthew has over 15 years of experience in the insurance industry and is a Fellow in the Casualty Actuarial Society. |
