Kristin D. McMahon is Head of Claims for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company's North America Specialty unit. She has global responsibility for claims oversight and litigation management services across all of North America units, including Casualty, Property, Healthcare, Professional Liability, Environmental and Regulatory lines.
Ms. McMahon joined Ironshore in 2008 as Chief Claims Officer for IronHealth, the specialty healthcare unit of Ironshore Inc. and served in various leadership roles. Most recently, she was Head of U.S. Claims for all company specialty lines nationwide, including IronHealth, IronPro, Environmental, Property and Casualty. Ms. McMahon previously was the U.S. President of Liability and Regulatory Products for IronHealth and a member of the Executive Management Committee. Throughout her tenure with IronHealth, she has been involved in all claims handling and coverage issues pertaining to the company’s healthcare, life sciences, managed care liability, and medical stop loss products. Ms. McMahon also played an integral role in major policy-making decisions related to production, claims management, product development, and risk management.
Prior to Ironshore, Ms. McMahon was a highly recognized attorney as a partner with the Chicago-based law firm, Kerns, Frost & Pearlman, where she specialized in representing professional liability insurers and reinsurers and in overseeing claims issues within U.S., Bermuda and London markets.
Ms. McMahon has published numerous articles and provided expert commentary on an array of insurance-related themes. She also is a frequent speaker at relevant industry conferences on risk management, claims management strategies, and regulatory issues.
She graduated cum laude from Fairfield University in Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and received her JD degree from Boston University’s School of Law.
